Switched By Amanda Hocking

Amanda Hocking is a great writer. Her stories keep you interested and always wanting to know what happens next. Switched is about a girl who never felt like she belonged. Her mother knew she was a changeling and tried to kill her when she was 6 and she has the scar to prove it. After being raised by her Aunt and older brother she finds out she belongs somewhere else. As it turns out her "mother" was right. She was a changeling. With tracker Finn guiding and protecting her way she makes it home to Forening where she finds out her real father is dead, her mother is the queen and she is a princess. She struggles with trying to be the princess and doing everything properly and her mother the queen never approving. After a second attempt from an apposing clan to kidnap her and loosing the man she loves, she decides she's done. That this isn't the life she wants.

Switched is was an easy read. Once I picked up the book it was hard to set it down. I Deffinately recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction with an edge of paranormal.

Dangerous Creatures

I just got done reading Dangerous Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl last night.

Dangerous Creatures is book 1 in the Dangerous Creatures series,
and follow up to the Beautiful Creatures series.

Where Beautiful Creatures focuses on Lena Duchannes and the Light Castor's,
Dangerous Creatures focuses on Ridley Duchannes (Lena's cousin) and the dark Castor's.

This book follows Ridley and Link's journey away from Gatlin to New York where they find themselves in the midst of trouble thanks to a game of Liars Trade where Ridley gambled away and lost horribly.

This book contains mystery,
magic,
and loads of lollipops.

Dangerous Creatures gives a new depth to Ridley that you don't see in Beautiful Creatures.
It follows Ridley's on again off again relationship with Link.
Ridley always said she was a bad girl,
but how bad is she really?
When it comes down to it,
Ridley may be a dark Castor and a siren,
but she uses a bad persona to cover her hurt and brokenness.
Link is a wanna be musician who thinks he's better than he really is.
Once a mortal but now a 3/4 human,
1/4 incubus,
Link struggles with finding himself,
and solidifying his relationship with Ridley.
Link has been trying to prove to Ridley that he loves her,
that shes worth loving,
and trying to bring her to admit her own feelings.
He sees what shes trying to hide.

In this book Ridley has to answer to her loss in a bad game of Liars Trade.
She owes 2 markers to the house for her loss.
One a drummer.
Two whatever the house wants.
She must pay up to Lennox Gates,
a dark Castor who is part Siren.
Link's plans to move to New York,
find a band and make it big plays right into her plans.
She feels guilty about handing over her boyfriend but can't seem to stop herself.
She knows she has a lot to loose,
possibly her life.

Dangerous Creatures was a good read.
I gave it 4 stars out of 5 on goodreads.

Where It All Started

I live a very stressful life and my one and only vice is books.
It's how I relax.
unwind,
and leave the real world for a bit.
Truth is reading is an addiction.
I am addicted to books,
to reading,
collecting,
and re-reading.
I had a rough start learning to read when I was young.
Because of dyslexia I struggled immensely.
It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I discovered my love for reading.
It all started with an amazing English teacher and Shakespeare play assignment.
A Midsummer Night's Dream.
We had a list of characters and a vague plot and were told to write a story on it.
We weren't allowed to read the play before writing our short stories.
And this is when my addiction to books started.
